2007

  • Formation of Group to enter Beautiful Scotland competition
  •  Regeneration of War Memorial garden
  • Commencement of on-going liaison with Parks Department of Scottish Borders Council
  • 1st fundraising by asking local businesses for sponsorship

 

2008

  • Floral Group advertises for sponsors in the Copshaw Clatter (village monthly magazine) and introduction of “Sponsor a Planter” idea
  •  Floral Group assists Newcastleton Primary School with their Eco project 
  • 1st annual Floral Group coffee morning & plant sale
  • Entry into Floral Gateway competition - awarded 2nd in Small Village category 
  • Entry into Beautiful Scotland competition – awarded Silver in Small Village category
  • Crocus planting with pupils from village primary school

 

2009 

  • Purchase of Parrot waste bin for park 
  •  “Sponsor a Planter” fundraising
  • Coffee Morning & plant sale
  • Replacement of tree seats in all 3 village squares with a grant from the Scottish Borders Council
  • Entry into Floral Gateway competition - awarded 2nd in Small Village category
  • Entry into Beautiful Scotland competition – awarded Silver in Small Village category
  • Introduction of Front of House competition within village   
  • Crocus planting with pupils from village primary school

 

2010

  • 1st village-wide door drop of Floral Group information leaflets and sponsorship requests
  • Introduction of village orchard
  • Participation in the Keep Scotland Tidy litter pick campaign
  • Joint purchase with Newcastleton School Partnership of Parrot waste bin for the primary school
  • Presentation of initial plans for park regeneration to local community at annual coffee morning & plant sale
  • Front of House competition within village 
  • Entry into Floral Gateway competition – awarded 1st in Small Village category
  • Entry into Beautiful Scotland – awarded Gold in Small Village category, award for small village,  shield for Best Village in Scotland,
  • Stall at Holm Show, annual agricultural show

  • Village door drop of information / sponsorship flyer and separate park survey
  • 1st stand-alone fundraising raffle 
  •  Acceptance of £700 grant from Copshaw Common Riding committee
  • Planting of fruit hedge trees donated by The Woodland Trust
  • Planting of additional fruit trees for village orchard 
  • Planting sustainable plants in two large planters in park 
  • Participation in the Keep Scotland Tidy litter pick campaign
  • Assisted Newcastleton Primary School in attaining Eco Green Flag status
  • Annual coffee morning & plant sale
  • Replaced Main Street planters with wooden planters supplied by Prison Service
  • Recycled serviceable old planters to other groups within the community

  • Planting specimen trees around village
  • Assisted School children in maintenance of planters at front of school and also the bog garden

  • Preparation and planting of large raised beds after taking over ownership from the Borders Council
  • Drainage work started in Public Park
  • Planting of all planters throughout the village for summer colour
  • Floral Festival held, including open gardens, exhibitions, floral art, scarecrows and heritage talks
